HHR's becoming popular as Taxi's

I live in N/W Ohio and have noticed more Cabbies here using HHR's as cabs. I think their reputation as dependable high mileage vehicles that get great gas mileage has caught on, plus their ability to carry a decent payload. The cab companies used to buy used fleet police cars (rwd impalas and crown vics) to use as these cars were good for high miles and had been maintained. These aren't made anymore. Might become a nationwide trend resulting in harder to find good HHR's. It will drive the prices up if it catches on, and help deplete the stock of these cars out there.

I've never seen one used as a taxi. While I love my HHR, the backseat is cramped. I'm not tall, 5' 9", and I am very uncomfortable in the backseat. I've been seeing a lot of mini-vans used as taxis. Uber and Lyft drivers use what ever they own.

Interesting :) They would be good also to deliver car parts instead of the OLD Rangers I drive lol The old Ford Ranger we have are getting tired and think the HHR would be a good replacement :)

Our local napa uses them for parts delivery. i just picked up 800lbs of brick in the back of my SS. The suspension squated pretty good in the back. But power and drivetrain were really uneffected

I agree with you on this.
In Manhattan all you see are minivans. Gone are the days of the yellow Checkers.

Most jurisdictions limit mileage and/or age of taxi vehicles. Years ago, Fairfax Va. said you could run a car for 400,000 or 4 years IF the engine was replaced/rebuilt by 300,000. This is when we were running Plymouths with slant 6 engines that refused to die, so they were rebuilding perfectly good engines all the time.

Ain't that the truth. Tried my best to blow up a couple and couldn't. Rod knocks and low oil pressure to boot. Lol.
