Hi Guys ... Just Picked up Number 10 from Missouri

Well, my wife and I batter around if I'm Loco in the Coco but I finally convinced her I needed 1 more HHR to add to my record.

This one is a 2011 White 2LT Auto 2.4L with 27,000 easy miles on it.
Had it shipped to Seattle where I went and got it yesterday.

Because it is very hard to purchase from pictures I had to take my merry time and gather lots if additional pic's and info from the Chevrolet dealer I bought it from. They were very helpful and that made the difference for me to go ahead.
Drives like a new car with only one issue I could detect.
Has a definite hesitation/pause when I am driving say 50 and want to up it to 60 or more. I slowly give it a little more gas but nothing happens until I push down more and more and then it kicks in with a surge to 60.
It may be apparent at other speed that I have not found yet as the trip home was all 50 to 60mph speed limits.
This condition is the first time I have encountered this after owning Eight 2.4L Auto HHR's so it is going to have to be resolved.
I am aware of the built in acceleration pause that comes from Factory fuel economy settings but this is much more definite.
Engine runs as quiet as a mouse and it shifts perfect.
I had my fingers crossed but there are no signs of any corrosion anywhere.

For now I plan to add a GM rear bumper protector (mostly for looks) and have a medium/dark metallic silver pinstripe put on.
I might change the 17" tires and wheels to 16" for a slightly improved ride.

Now .... On to my Bucket list of other things to get done like check the fuses and replace the cabin filter, air cleaner, and adjust the rear brakes etc. etc.

Am I having FUN YET ???

That hesitation may be a 2011 thing, any of the others 2011?

May have something to do with the torque converter lock. It is supposed to act like a slipping clutch, but maybe it engages all the way.

My 2011 had something like that; didn't bother me.

Interesting ... Never thought about the torque convertor as a possible.

I might do a few tests by checking the rpm range with it happening and see if I can in some way duplicated it at lower speed and in lower gear without the clutch convertor engaged if that is possible.
8 of my last 10 have been 2011's and none with even close to the degree of the issue.

If I understand right; it acts like you are trying to accelerate a 5 speed in fifth gear?

Yes but with just enough throttle to slowly rise from 50mph to 60 mph which as you know in an HHR it does not take much throttle movement.

It acts like a dead spot.....

I test drove and passed up an '08 2.4 with just 54K miles for that exact problem. Exactly at 50 too....

I bet it is the same re programming thing oldblue had.

Update....

I drove it today and discovered that taking off from a stop with moderate throttle it responds uneven.
Zero to 25 is smooth and then it surges up without changing the foot throttle setting.
Bottom line is that the different throttle settings are somewhat unsteady and inconsistent.

Is there a throttle position sensor on this thing that could be defective?

Did not get the opportunity to do my other test yet that I mentioned earlier.

Steve must be AWOL as he usually would have chimed in by now.....

10 HHRs... SF, you just might need... an intervention! :jester: ;)

Maybe a dirty throttle body?

Maybe ... That was one of my thoughts as well.

Long shot but today I filled up with fresh 92octane and 16 0z. of Techron fuel system conditioner.
I'll run at least 3 bottles thru it and see if that helps.

Driving it around town is a little nerve racking if in tight quarters.
On the hiway you have to romp on it to just speed up a bit.

Adjusted the brakes today but might have to go to the cable to get it down to 3 clicks.

Also added to my bucket list today a complete cooling system flush and new Dexcool because of Time Not mileage.

Any thoughts on the Lastest Version of Mobil 1 with Dexos 1 for gasoline engines and also in very small print "Approved Gen 2"
