What to look for when buying an HHR.
I have a Duramax 4 door truck and I am considering an HHR. A friend has a panel version and I drove it a couple of years ago and liked it except for the visibility. I think the regular format will be ok and understand with the design there will be some visibility relinquishments.
Currently I am considering a 2008 HHR SS. I would be happy with a LT2 or LS. I really don't want this model but there is one available at a decent price so the SS will be considered. I want room in the back for the big pooch and decent fuel mileage.
What are the important drill downs features, weak spots to watch for when making the purchase of an HHR?
I would think there is much experience in here and value it greatly. I thank you in advance for any information you may be able to pass on.

If you are looking at the '08 SS, the option code G85 indicates it has a limited slip differential. You want that. The option codes are on a decal inside the glove box.
I love mine. I started out looking at Cobalt SS-es, and found my car on a Ford lot, and the sales guy really didn't know what it was. He tried to sell me a used Mustang first, but then was real surprised when I showed him a few things. He wanted to know how I knew, and then I had to tell him that I worked for the General. He then got all nice and made a sale...
Otherwise, things pretty much are as people said. Make sure the basics are solid (no major wrecks or really weird noises). The recall may be inconvenient for you, but GM will still cover it if not yet done. In fact, they are handing out gift cards in at least some cases to get people to come in...
