How do they handle in the winter?

Well after a weekend of test driving a number of different cars, I narrowed it down to two which each are really on totally oposite ends of the spectrum. I like the Mazda6 and the HHR. I'm really leaning toward the HHR for the simple fact that it is unusual.

I live in Buffalo NY and wondering how they handle in the snow???

Thanks in advance

I'm trying to find the old thread about it. I started a thread about the HHR and snow like a year ago. A simple answer would be not that bad but I would recommend snow tires.

Never had any trouble last winter, here in Chicago. Loved those heated seats.
Preheating the Cruck helped too.
PS. The auto start system can be pre-programed to start the veh. at different intervals during really cold days, too keep everything nice and cozy.
Oh, did I mention, I Love My Cruck..!!!

I live in Florida, so I can't speak to how the HHR handles in the snow, but my wife and I own a 2006 HHR LT2 and a 2005 Acura TSX. When we bought the TSX, we also shopped the Mazda 6. I find the HHR to be just as quiet and comfortable as the Acura, but somehow more fun to drive (despite being less powerful). While the TSX is a very nice ride, the HHR simply puts a smile on your face every time you drive it. When I grab for a set of keys, the HHR always gets the nod! I also appreciate the HHR's fold down seats and ability to haul stuff. We traded in an SUV for the HHR and can honestly say, from a hauling perspective, the SUV isn't missed.

I live in Colorado and have had no problems with mine in the snow whatsoever. Ran great with stock tires too. :thumb:

There arent very many cars out there that I like enough to go and buy brand new. The Mazda 6 and and HHR are on the top of my short list. But in the end, the Mazda is "just a car" where, as Boko mentioned, the HHR puts a smile on on your face. If I'm going to spend the money on something new.....i want the smile
