I'm looking at a 2007 HHR with the 2.2 engine, and it has 180,000 miles on it, the Vehicle is in good shape and the Car Fax show no major repairs, (NONE), only oil changes and checks of the differential, and has only had 2 owners,

does anyone know how long these engines seem to go ?? I realize maintenance, and care make a difference

 

Welcome to the site. A while back there was a youtube video of a HHR turning over 400,000 miles. One of the forum members traded his with 320,00 if I remember correctly though I don't know if it was a 2.2 or a 2.4

Well my daily driver with a 2.2 has 240,000+ miles on it, no major problems, but I did change out the timing chain tensioner for the revised design a while back.

As with any engines, maintenance is key, and it sounds like that one has been taken care of.

 

My niece sold her 2.2 in September with 176000 on it. She was the second owner and it seemed to have been well maintained by the previous owner. She made quite a few trips from northern California to southern Californina in it. I replaced the front hubs once and the brakes a couple of times when she had it. She had the oil changes done regularly by a shop near her home. No major problems but it had developed a small oil leak within the last few months she had it.

 

Get a compression test done.

 

146,000 miles and still running great. I change the oil and filter to the DIC oil life,spark plugs as suggested in owners manual.
Just one head gasket replaced under warranty back at 58,000 miles, I just changed the thermostat and Dexcool , but other than that AOK!

 

I'm at 171,000+ and have never changed anything but the oil and the camshaft position solenoid. Purrs like a kitten!!

 

154,000+ still 30 mpg.

I'm curious how you got to be the PT Killer with a stock 2.2L ??

I don't see any engine mods on your list.
