How to remove manual shifter knob on SS?

Can someone PLEASE tell me how to get this !@$&! Shifter knob off? I have a nice new knob and boot to install but I can't get the old one off. Removed the cap and the torx head screw. Also the pleather cover. Please let me know what trick I need hare. Yes I checked the search bar too. No definitive answer. Thanks, Mike

OP, would you mind showing us some pics when you are done? Mine looks like crap. 142K miles, ya know? Looking for something sleeker myself.

Actually, that TWM one looks slick, but I don't want stubby...

You have to pry like he!! from underside w/ 2 flat blade screwdrivers and lever it up. It's on a spline so twisting does no good. It's going to release unexpectedly so be careful you don't wack yourself in the head.

I finally got the knob off. It was easier to remove the shifter and get the knob off in my garage. Prying up didn't work. I broke the reverse lock out. Wound up threading the screw in a bit, clamping the knob in my vise then hit the screw and it popped apart. I replaced the boot and knob. Removed the reverse lock out. I'm going to cut the stick down a few inches to shorten the throw. I'll post pictures when it's all done. Mike

Actually, a little scrolling on you first link would do it. Scrolling is sooo cumbersome.
