Any idea on the dimesions of it or the internal volume of the factory box SoCal? I know I love Kicker but the Rockford Fosgate Punch Stage 2 might be my choice. It pretty compact so I think the mounting depth should be good. The 8" recommended sealed box volume is between .15 cubic feet and .35 cubic feet with .25 cubic feet being the optimum size so I think I should be good there also.

Here are some pics of the stock sub box & amp:

If you look in the bottom pic, you can see how close to the metal body the stock box is; not much room for expansion (putting a bigger box).

On the plus side; there is plenty of room in the bettery/tire compartment to mount your sub amp:

I would stay away from mounting it to the sub enclosure like the factory setup = vibration is an amplifier's biggest enemy. *BTW: Look at that dinky stock sub amp. It does it's job - but just barely!

*Note: Pictures courtesy of NavyFlyer on another HHR site.

Hope it helps,

I don't think BA makes a 8". I think they only make 10" or 12".

Man your right. Not much room for expansion at all. I think if you Dynamat around the enclosure vibration shouldn't be much of a issue. Not only is there room for the amp but your battery is right there. There is no chance of porting the factory box.

In an 8 or 10" - I heartily recommend the JL Audio's.
Great sound at a good price...

That said, I'm putting a Pioneer 10" in my HHR.
(*But as I said above - I'm looking for a more "accurate" studio type sound.)

JLs are nice! I had a buddy Luis who swore by them and I can't find a bad thing to say about them. I think they are a little over rated though. They are getting kind of played out like Kicker was back in the early '90s.
