I'll bet that probably really helps that Sindy has to activate them before they can post. Then, when spammers do try to get on, Sindy can "zap" them before they even get through. The spammers are counted into the figure 35,000+ members, right? It seems like we probably have less than a thousand "active" members...

 

Yes they are counted in the numbers. We didn't always have this system and every once in awhile you would come on and find 6 or 7 threads of porn spammers (and some interesting pics) that the moderators would have to take care of.

 

I bet somebody that are smart knows the answer to how to find that out be it not me.

This type of 'spammer' is a bot. One it is programed they hit message boards and register. It's not even a human doing the registration and posting. The human had all ready programed the bot then they send the bots out to hit the Internet to do their work. (I'm no expert but that is my surmises of how that works)

To implement stronger plug-in software to deny the spambot access is something JonyyB has to install. Installing stuff like that is just beyond my admin permissions.
It would be a tremendous help to me to have a plug-in for that but well...... we know how that goes.

 

At least it's nice to know you're doing what you can to help Sindy. Well, I appreciate it at least!

Why did you delete his obvious intent (sales links).......and still leave him as a member of the forum? Why not delete the entire post?

 

The links were in their signature. I removed the links from the signature. Anything in the signature automatically posts after any text that was entered in the dialogue box when posting a topic or reply.
Although the bot is a member, it is in the banned user group and is not able to participate anymore.
