It's at thr dealer now....finally

I just got a call from the dealership telling me that they're off loading my HHR from the transporter. The service department is closed so it won't be preped till Monday.

We had a bit of touch and go there for a minute. The call came in from the sales woman I've been dealing with and during the course of our discussions I mentioned the HHR forums and said to her that I thought I wasn't being treated fairly. This is because I ordered my HHR without running boards and later decided to add them, but by the time I decided to do that it was already built. So they ordered them for me and said that it will be $550.00 if I install them myself and $625.00 if they do the install. Then I told here that there are several folks getting theirs from the dealer at cost of about $450.00 and some were getting theirs installed as a dealer freebee and that maybe I chose the wrong dealer to order from. She then told me it's because other dealers charge a dealership fee of $499.00 - $699.00 and theirs is only $399.00, at this I blew up. I told her that they never said anything about a dealership fee when I ordered it, and as an ex car salesman I know that dealership fees are a bogus add on that most people will pay without balking only because they don't know better. And to make matters worse I said that it isn't fair they were offering me wholsale for my trade and selling me the HHR at retail without compromise. But now that I sold my trade in outright I was coming in with enough cash to pay for about 2/3 of the price and think I should get a better deal. Then I told her to forget it and just sell the damn thing to someone else.

About 10 minutes later I get a call from the sales manager, we talked about the same stuff and he asked me what had changed since I came in to order the HHR, I told him that two months had passed since I ordered it, and in this period of time I .sold my trade for 4k above what they offered and joined these forums where I've become better educated And with the $$$ and education I would just wait a bit longer and order an 07 from another dealer and get a better deal.

He said not to worry about the dealership fee, he has to show it on the deal but will back it out of the price, and as far as the running boards go he'll find out what their cost is and pass that along to me and have the service department install them at no cost. He said don't worry about the numbers, he'll make it right for me.

Oh well, we'll see what Monday brings me...LOL

Sorry for the long post !!!

one would think that the way things are going for chevy and some of these dealers that they wouldnt want to screw around with people too much. The dealer i bought my first HHR from, me not being to informed, will not get another penny from me. I went over some of the paper work and they didnt exactly give me much of a deal. After going to the dealership i bought the 2nd one from and being treated 10000% better, we got their survey and gave them all high marks, and bashed the other dealer. Some of them are out to screw whoever they can, whenever they can. I learned from the first and it didnt happen on the 2nd. Good luck monday, and hopefully you can be driving your HHR off the lot, with the same big a** smile as i had when i got the 2nd one.

Dan, I am glad to hear that you HHR is finally here! That is great news. Good for you, telling those guys to sell it to someone else if they try to change the price now. Dealer add-on's
The sad thing is, there are too many people that just don't know better. A guy at work bought an HHR last week for sticker AND took a bath on his Astro Van that he traded in. We even have the GM supplier discount at work. He didn't even know about that, so he didn't use it. He said it was too late after the fact. He wouldn't even try to go back the next day when I talked to him.
Anyway, I am happy for you and I hope that you get your HHR and the deal you want on Monday.

I don't know if anybody has a GM check card but I was kinda upset when they told my girlfriend and I that we couldn't combine are earnings. So I guess in a few years when she gets a new car we will end up with a bunch of unused earnings on one of our cards..Kinda lame if both names are on the bill..

Thanks for all your replies, I really hope on Monday these folks don't play games. I really do want the HHR I ordered but the bottom line is, I want one, I don't need one. So I'll get one regardless, even if I have to search high and low for what I want, or I could alway's wait for the 07's in hopes of an SS version.

It's amazing what dealers try to get away with. I have used the same dealership and salesman on my last five vehicles over the last 9 years. When it came time to buy my HHR, they did not want to negotiate on it at all. Window sticker only. I told the salesman that it had been nice dealing with him over the years, but I'm taking my business elsewhere. I found another dealer a little further away, but they jumped through hoops. They had to do a dealer trade to get the HHR I wanted and they got me financed with GMAC at 3.9%! I'm a happy HHR owner! Wish I had joined the forum earlier and found out about the running boards though. I'm going to the dealership next week to see what they can do for me.

Good Luck on Monday Dan!

GM has a lot of issues and they are working on them and I see the results. One of the biggest problems they have is their dealer network, they need to get them under control.

I wonder why dealerships are often referred to as "stealerships".

Amen....every time i go past the dealer that screwed us the first time, i want to pull in there and tell people to go to the dealer that we got the 2nd one from. Not only will they get better service and more for their money, but i will also get a 100 bucks per person that buys a car.
