I don't know take both numbers and your letter.

Maybe it's the importers problem?

Should the dealer provide a new fob after the switch is changed? Can a locksmith flash a new fob or is this a dealer only fix.

Long dead, but no. The switch has nothing to do with the fob.

How much would purchasing the new parts, and having a decent technician, install them be? In US dollars?

Why would you do that? It's a recall i.e. FREE at ANY GM dealer.

If you really want to pay for it, I would suggest calling a locksmith and asking for a quote. I would not bother with a mechanic.

It is not Rocket Science; if you know which end of a screwdriver is the hammer you can do it yourself.

Dealing with these dealerships around here, I'd just as soon drop a brick on my foot.

Yeah, the locksmith will change the key cylinder, but not the 'switch'. You know these are two different things, right?

Situation right now, just prevents me from staying at the dealer all day, for an hour repair. The 'new' seems to have worn off this repair recall, so they're back to being just regular jerkoff service departments.

I wonder why they would not do the switch? What do they do with cars that have been "hotwired"? I don't think there is even an extra screw.

Like I said; "If you really want to pay for it, I would suggest calling a locksmith and asking for a quote" or a local mechanic. Basically to answer your question: about 2 hours labor. If you scan through the never ending recall thread, I'm fairly sure the billing schedule was posted by somebody. (recall labor hours are less than shop hours)

Most of the labor is removing/replacing the plastic cowling.

And it would not show as "recall done".
