Key fob

Mine came with no key fob. I'd like to have one just as a safety measure against getting locked out.
They're all over eBay, so which one do I get?
I see many videos on how to program these things without the dealer. Can I use these methods?

First check your DIC and look for remote start to see if need that style fob or the standard key

Dorman has a kit to program up to 3 fobs

If it does not include a computer interface it is BS. All of those "simple dance" procedures are not aplicable.

I don't see Remote Start anywhere in my DIC.
That Dorman kit sells for $81.49 at Auto Zone.
I really just want to be able to unlock the rear hatch without having to walk back up to the cab. And have another way to unlock the doors if I misplace my key.
This is really more about shoveling money to the dealer than about theft prevention.

The rear hatch isn’t controlled by the fob, there is a soft touch button in the beauty bar above the rear license plate.

The fob locks//unlocks the hatch. So does the lock button on the driver door.

One approach you might like is to find a locksmith who does fobs. They know which ones work. Their prices are all over the map, but some are very reasonable. Get two. They can fix you up with an extra key or two as well, but that you can probably do.

A 2009 might not have remote start, but does have remote door lock.
The hatch locks and unlocks with the lock-all button on the driver door or the fob. The pressure switch on the beauty bar opens the latch. You have to go to the back to press that button to open it, a fob will not change that.
If someone put a fuse in position #11 in the under hood fuse box the hatch will not lock.
You can get a digital Owner Manual via the link in my sig.
