The little light in the roof?

I know it's prolly been answered dozens of times, but I'm imatient and haven't found a text search feature on the board.

Wat's the lil light inside above the windshield for? Dealers don't seem to know, or at least the sales people I talk to. One told my friend it was to light up the moon roof buttons, but I don't have a moon room and I have the lil purplish light. thanks. privates welcome

It is a light for the waterfall. So you can see you radio knobs and things like that.

That is the PT Cruiser detector. If it turns red, there is a PT nearby.

Hmmmm. I need to log on every morning to start my day with a smile. Thanks.

I just thought that was too simple an answer, considering the weird color, softness and dimness of its output on the instrument panel. But I do notice it makes the unlighted power window buttons visible, so I guess it's worth the $150 or so bucks it probably cost Chevy to put it there.
