I got 31 mpg (mixed highway/city driving) on my most recent tank of gas. That's great since the weather is getting hot and I'm having to use the A/C during the day.

I usually drive 65 on the highway, and use the cruise control whenever possible. I drive 60 on the way home from work, because there's no reason to be in a rush. On long road trips out of state, I'll usually set the cruise at 70.

I'm VERY pleased with the gas mileage.

Clear each entry on the DIC and let it start computing from zero again. Time spent idling also eats into the avg mpg displayed on the DIC.

today I filled up and reset the DIC and drove about 20 miles. The gage showed 38MPG when I reached my destination!! It usually is around 24. Do you think a full tank gives you better MPG than a half empty or low tank?????

Maybe lowering the HHR is the ticket. How many with the lowering kit can get over 30 mpg. I know I can't without it lowered no matter if it's winter or summer, A/C on or not.

I've found just the opposite to be true.

When I used to clear the MPG entry after every fill-up, it would consistently be off by up to two full MPG.

I never reset it anymore, and it is now only about 3/10 off. Huge improvement.

And you do NOT want to clear all entries on the DIC. Leave the oil-life entry alone.
