Mileage @ MPH and RPM
OK Guys and Gals,
This defies all of my logic. At 55 MPH with cruise control on I can average 26/27 Miles Per Gallon. At 64 MPH with cruise control on I can averarge 32/33 MilesPer Gallon. This defies all of the published logic as to lower speed creates better mileage and/or coeficient of friction. Has anyone had the same experience? 2.4 liter ecodive 2LT. -Sunburst Sam |
What other variables????? Tuck in behind a semi and it really goes up. I got 24,000 miles now. You need to catch up.

Nova
Does his numbers sound right to you how many time have we drafted each other and compare numbers later. Remember Did he say 33 at 64 MPH Rudy |

Drafting helps, but how long can you really draft on a highway safely. |
Mileage?
Hey guys,
This is all on open interstate, no drafting! Do you think my names's Kevin Harvick!!! |
No drafting? C'mon! My wife drafts in the bus with other busses all the time. Pesky rev limiters. Drafting increases speed and MPG, it's the greatest thing ever!

With a 2.2L engine and auto transmission, I get my best mileage at about 60 mph. I'll actually see 30 mpg. But, when I inch up towards 75-80, I get a 1-2 mpg decrease. I reset the trip odometer, mpg, and average speed every time I fill up. I'm going to start tracking mpg manually to see if the DIC really is really accurate.

The answer is simple really, the faster you go, the faster each mile goes by, so you can cover more miles in faster time, thereby using less gas. If it takes 1 minute to cover 1 mile, you'd use more gas than if it took 10 seconds to cover 1 mile. Think about it.

I think veh. that travel 1 mi. in 10 sec. calculate their fuel in pounds.
Jets for instance.. |
