More HHR SS 2008 info - I found - Spy photos

I didn't see these listed, if they are sorry for the reposting.

Latest photos from Death Valley capture a prototype of the 2008 Chevy HHR SS. The prototype has a completely new front bumper, with a large under-bumper opening feeding air to the turbo’s intercooler. The bumper differs from the standard HHR’s design in that this one is shaped more like an air dam, decreasing the amount of turbulent air that gets pushed under the vehicle when driven at speed. The new design also gets rid of the ugly rectangular “bumperettes” that are part of the retro styling of the standard model. Tires are low-profile Michelin’s on alloy wheels, mounted to a firmed-up, sport suspension.

Engine is reportedly the 2.0 liter direct injected Ecotec Turbo also used on the Pontiac Solstice GXP and Saturn Sky Red Line. In those vehicles the turbocharged and intercooled engine puts out a healthy 260 horsepower. Four-wheel disk brakes with ABS are standard. Transmission will be a five-speed using a short throw shifter. Interior amenities include special seats with the SS logo, and a turbo boost gage mounted on the driver’s A-pillar.
Look for the new SS to be added to the HHR lineup this fall as a 2008 model.

Cool pics, looks like there are some hood fit issues on that prototype. Looks pretty sweet though.

maybe you should just pm hvrod about resizing the pics. You dont really need to police every post out there...we have moderators for that.

Back to the thread...looks like the SS will be getting projector fogs as well? Nice bumper. Too bad Chevy's not upgrading the lights to HIDs.

the hood on the third pic looks like its lifting up a bit on the side. Probably cant fit all that TC goodness under the hood!

Does it looks like the alignment is off on that HHR. The front wheels seem to be tilted inwards quite a bit (camber). Can't say I've paid attention to this on my, or other, HHR's but are they all like that?

the more I see of the new front air dam of the SS, the more I like it!

These pics are great, a very good look at the new front end...
but those leaked brochure pages mentioned a new rear fascia and I can't wait to see that. As far as I can tell the rear end in these pics doesn't look any different than the current models, correct?
