Well most of my pre-buy questions have been answered and I have to report......I'm taking delivery of a SHADOW EDITION sometime this evening!!! Had what I wanted for accessories and the dealer had one so!!!! :thumb: :thumb: :D :D :one: :one:
Next I'm sure I'll have even MORE questions, and YES I'll try to post pictures when I can - not a real good internet picture poster! Besides it was get it done today or not until Monday - work 6p-6a Thursday, Friday and Saturday!
I'm EXCITED!!!

Afternoon all! This is my first post here and I'll explain a little then get into the questions! First I DO NOT currently own a HHR but it is on the top of my short list! I'm looking to trade out of my GMC Sierra 1500, which I LOVE but with gas prices...well you all know that story!
Here is what I'd like to know. I'm looking at a 2LT with, first question: which options are the ones to have, yet keeping the cost reasonable? This will be a general purpose vehicle to and from work, VERY short distance and occassional long trips. Now my second question and this one is a bit specific. I'm a amateur radio operator and was wondering about radio installations? Most likely just a dual band 2m/440 from my truck, has a detachable head so that isn't much of a problem but would like to hear from other "hams" and see any installations you've come up with.
Now the $64,000 questions: why sould I buy a HHR and why shouldn't I buy one?
Geesh not asking for much from some one that doesn't own a HHR!
I've read a LOT of the posts on this forum and I'm about 95% sold on the HHR but really would like these questions answered.
THANKS for a GREAT forum and I'm looking forward to hearing from folks!

If you buy a 2LT, you don't need many more options. Many people say the running boards are a must but my 2-year-old HHR has few pits in the rear fenders. It all depends on what kind of roads you drive on. I only have the premium stereo with XM, auto transmission, and the roof racks. I could do without all three and still love my HHR.

I have an 08 LS with the only options being onstar, roof rails, and running boards. I don't care for all the extra chrome, myself.

As for the radio, I'll always install an aftermarket so I can't say how good the premium system is.

I have no idea about hams...but I can say there is a wealth of knowledge on this site on how to do pretty much anything. We also have a bunch of GM people as members (and hhr owners) that contribute a lot. I can't imagine you'd have much problem installing your HAM.

I bought an 08 LS (Panel) and the only option I have (other than OnStar and automatic tranny) is the runningboards. I think they really make the car look finished. Everything else can probably be added from the aftermarket.

I really like the leather seats. I also really recommend the side airbags if you can find them.

$64,000 question was a game show in the 50's, the last question on the show was worth $64,000 to the winner....

Sarge- one question for you, Windows or Panel?

The only option I was going to get was the enhanced safety package, which consists of ABS,side airbags and traction control.(I think)
