Can you put an 8' piece of lumber in any of those other cars? They will fit in the HHR. They almost touch the radio when resting on the arm rest, but the rear hatch closes. One of the things I like about it.

I was telling someone I know about putting 8' lumber in mine and his reply was I have a full size Explorer and I can't do that.

I know it would fit in a GMC Terrain, (pre-2018) they are 9 inches longer than HHR. For 2018 they shortened them.

After 2016, this is not true. The 9 speed trans was a nightmare, but corrected by early 2016 with software. 2016 and later Cherokees have been very solid. 2014/15, not so much.
