My best drive ever in my HHR!!

I'll start by telling you I live in Imperial Valley, CA the low desert. I had a meeting with a client in south San Diego and usually take the 8 fwy all the way to 5 fwy and then head south. I was thinking maybe theres a back way to avoid the traffic in the morning. Well I looked it up on google maps and it had me going on the old 94 highway... I'll I can say is WOW!! Nothing by winding roads the whole way till I hit the 125 toll road. I had my sunroof open and radio blasting and the weather couldn't have been any better. Now that I have these Solstice rims on my car it feels so much better and I couldn't be any happier after taking that road to prove it.

This is the only site where I know someone would appreciate this story. After my meeting I went to Miramar and picked up a new Porter Cable buffer and some goodies from Chemical guys to finish the perfect day. Needles to say closing a big account that morning help...

Thanks for listening..and please post any similar stories. I think it would be fun to share any fun and exciting drives some of us have experienced.

Did 94 about 10-15 years ago, when I traveled to SD, on I8, almost every weekend. You're correct it is a fun road, especially in very nice weather.

Did you notice if the train ride amusement still is in operation? Also, there was 2 ladies operating a candy store along there....is it still in operation?

My "fun run" in California was on 74 from Indio to San Juan C....then on return. A lot of "hot" cars travel this route, just for amusement.

The train ride is still open and the candy store was open as well. I've taken 74 before and your right that is also a fun road, although I didn't see any nice cars when I was there.

Think I went out 94 only once when I was covering San Diego in my job years back...nice drive.

Another nice drive from down there (starting at Lakeside and the 8..) is the 'back way' into Palm Springs.
