My poor Charleen

Hey guys, I havn't been on this board for awhile. Last week i was in a pretty bad accident. My beloved "Charleen", (my 07 HHR) is totaled. I was driving in the middle lane of a 3 lane parkway. It had snowed pretty hard the night before. Some woman decided she was going to pass me and lost control of her car and slamed into me. I was sent into a 720 degree spin at 55 mph and smashed into the barrier wall. I got out of the car without a scratch. Anyone who is wondering about the saftey of your HHR, don't worry. It will keep you very safe.
My wife took me to the yard where they flat bedded my car, and could not believe that i walked away from this wreck. I'm still waiting for Geico to finish up with my claim. I have already started checking out the 09 HHR's.
I know that cars can be replace and that i am very lucky that i didn't get hurt, but i will miss that car. RIP Charleen.

Wow! Glad to hear you are OK Cheif.. Sorry to hear about the loss of the car though. Better things lie ahead I'm sure.

Happy to hear about the safety factor there. Any pictures of you crashed ride? It sounds like it was banged up all the way a round, and I am sure the airbags must have deployed... I know when I saw both of the GM cars my 2 kids totalled and walked away from, it was a very emotional thing... I was very, very thankful there for sure!

I would opt for the SS myself for a replacement! I love mine and it has been a great car for me.

No Pics yet but i will have some when my insurance co gets back to me. They put me in a rental for now. Any guesses what it is? ...A PT Cruiser. I hate it. The next person that sees my car and asks " what is that? A PT Cruiser" , is going to hear it from me. This dodge is nothing like my HHR. Cargo room sucks, Leg room sucks, and it is very plastic in the interior.
I want to look at the 09 SS. How are you SS owners liking it? Any feedback would be helpful.

Glad to hear you are OK.

I bought a 2009 HHR and my only complaints are the arm rest, non multipositional and the stereo could use better speakers and a power amp.

I am one picky person and other than those two minor complaints, I am very happy with it.

Now that I think about it, it's not so great in snow/ice situations. There have been times I couldn't get up the incline of my driveway without putting some sand down.

The arm rest can be removed and easily modified to change the incline by just adding a small sheetmetal screw to stop it where you want.
Cant help you with the stereo.

If you buy a 09 SS, get the 5 speed. Since they limit the HP even more

I bought an Auto in case the wife needed to drive it, she drove it 1 time and it made her too nervous, she hasn't driven it again, says she feels claustrophobic.

If I would have known that, I would have bought the 5spd. but hey the remote start is great!
