National Backorder on Fenders?
I took my car in to get the accident damage fixed. I open the door and see body filler on the fender which they were supposed to replace. They tell me oh we had to fix it since there is a week long back order on the fenders. WTF? They didn't tell me this until I *****ed about the body filler. Does anyone know if this is true? Needless to say I have it in writing they will be replacing the fender with a OEM GM one. I wanted to ring the managers neck but I don't think he has one. I found more wrong after I got home so I am going to be stopping back there tommorrow and making them fix everything.

Never heard of a week long backorder. When a part is backordered by GM it's anyones guess when it will be in.

I'd guess the "weeklong backorder" goes something like this:
They order the part, and it takes a week to get there... |
A week long Back Order?? I'd Tell them to wait for the Damn Part!!!!!!

Which fender? If it is the front, be very careful of the body shop and the bill. The part is $135 and is cheaper to replace than repair.

My HHR is in the shop now after a little fender-basher. I needed a new right rear quarter panel. I was told it was also on "national backorder," but they had it in just a few days. Now some interior trim pieces are on the dreaded national backorder. No word on them yet.
