Ok, me and the ECOTECForum.com have been talking about this for a good while. Mainly, there are alot of questions on what can people do as far as turboing their 2.0, 2.2 & 2.4.

I am going to be consulting with a few people with answers that I might need more detail on that I don't know myself.

Now, what I'm asking of ChevyHHR is to think of questions that you would honestly like to have answered that is turbo related...will this fit...will this work...how does this work...what does this do...ecotec related or turbo related, whatever. Your questions will be entered and answered.

This will be for ALL ECOTEC motors.

Also, I don't know as of yet if I will post it on here but I will probably link it just for the fact that if I have to update it to add more questions, I probably won't come back on here to update it as well, so it will defenitley be posted on ecotecforum.com though.

I think the big question for the last year has been: when will STS's production kit ever be released?

 

STS is designing a rear mount kit as I type this their main problem they said is they are having problems tunning the computer of the HHR. Some kind of piggy back system I'm sure could be riged to work. I also contacted Hahn, and the sales guy said they are working on a 2.2 ecotec protype kit, which is made up of almost all the same componets that are on the cobalt, and j-body kit are.

Adam, not to be off subject but..
Two things, we miss you over on j-body, and why did you sell your "samantha." I think that is the right name. Also thanks for the ecotec crank pulley.

I traded in my car cause it was starting to become a money pit. After my son was born and as he started getting older, more money needed to be involved and I was seeing what was more important to me. Even then, I HAD to put money into the car to get something running right or to know if this was running right and this was far and few dollars in between but it was money I could have used in the right places. Also, I was moving to TN (which I did) and I needed a much more reliable car and not have to worry about if this stops work or if this doesn't work...turbocharged cars just have so much maintenance and I couldn't afford it anymore.

That's the summarized version.

 

Oh, and I left the JBO cause that place is going downhill. No one wants to help anyone anymore and no one gets the concept of forums...forums have repeat questions...if there wasn't anything repeated, there would be nothing going on. Also, they don't understand the concept of people are new to forums they aren't going to search for every last answer and searching doesn't always answer your question. Hell, I was on there for a year before I even knew there was a search button lol.

Also, people just have negative attitudes. I was tired of being the only one trying to help people in a thread and there are about 6 egos putting someone down. That's why I took over the Newbies forum, cause you have new people asking questions and people ragging on them...IT'S THE NEWBIES FORUM! WHAT DO YOU EXPECT! I mean, it was rediculous...I stuck up for so many people and I was just tired of it. Just the whole place was 2x worse than high school EVER was. Period.

That's why I try and bring people to ecotecforum.com, I'm an Admin and can control the environment and make sure people have their questions answered and not ragged on.

Enought talking for me though...

Yeah; when is STS going to finish their production kit?

It's been "in development" for over a year now...

And yeah, it's "on" the car...but that's a show car. It get's trailered from show to show.

Right now no one, including Keith Losier who builds SEMA vehicles for GM, has a boost kit that works properly. Keith was here last July talking about his efforts to complete a supercharger package, and even with his contacts at GM, we have yet to hear anything about a success story on an HHR. Cracking the code is said to be the holdup. (*BTW- Keith has a whole team of GM programmers he works with who have worked tirelessly on it, and still the HHR goes into "power reduce" (limp) mode whenever boost is applied.

Could be a long while yet...

 

NJHK, yes the org was and still is at times just plan inmature. Thats why a lot of us over there missed you when you left. There are FINALLY a growing number of people that are trying to help, but there is still the. "Search first buddy." and no helpful reponse. Also SAC is a administrator. Hes on a banning rampage, which is helping. IMO. but yes all and all there is still to much BS.

HPtunners is also working on the ecotec 2.2 and 2.4 computers, and are unable to get them to listen.
I send pictures of my HHR's brain and gave the serial numbers to chris. He has not gotten back to me in a while regarding the subject.

 

HPTuners is already out with a 2.4 program. And like SoCal Mike has said before. If you are not used to seeing all the different tuning parameters then its better left to a professional. Its usually good to know someone who has the program and knows how to use it to either teach you or have it tuned for you on a dyno!


NJHK::: as far as turbo questions... what kind are you looking for? I'm pretty sure if you are building a FAQ like the title says then you aren't looking to be asked about "when is this coming out" or such. How about....

Where can I purchase Ecotec turbo maifolds?

What turbo can I use that will spool fairly quickly and will be best for my small displacement engine?

Should I use internal wastegate or an external? and what are the advantages/disadvantages to either one?

Seeing as how you have already built a turbo Ecotec in a Sunfire... what kind of setup did you use and what have you found that works best for these engines in your search for more power?
