No Crank No Start Problem

Hey Just an FYI post on the common no crank no start issue. Was having this problem with my 08 SS. Fuel pump did not energize and the air bag sensor light in the middle of the dash did not come on. All the warning lights came on when the switch was turned on however when you tried to crank it in the start key position all the lights went out and nothing. No crank or sounds. This happened intermittently and some times I could put it in neutral and it would start. Put on a neutral safety switch, same issues. I was dumbfounded. Took it to my cousin, who is a certified mechanic,
and he could not figure it out. Finally began checking relays and found that it was the crank relay.(position 51 in under hood fuse box). Replaced the relay and fine ever since. Just wanted to share info in case anyone else is having similar problems.

How was that relay found as the problem ? How did you know the fuel pump didn't work ?

The problem was intermittent and when it did start your could hear the fuel pump energize before starting. There was no hesitation when driving and it did not appear to be a fuel issue but an electrical issue.
Had just installed a new battery also so I began checking the relays involved with starting the vehicle. Dumb luck was involved by checking this relay first. Simply swapped out a good relay with this one and tried
starting it and upon turning the switch on the fuel pump immediately energized and vehicle started.. Put the old relay back in just to see what would happen and the problem reoccurred. It has been running great for a month now.
My little baby is back.

For a no crank condition that and the associated fuse #43 would be among the first places to look. Those components supply ALL of the IGN1 voltage to the ECM.

I don't understand why you would suspect fuel delivery in a no crank condition?

I did not suspect a fuel issue at all, I suspected an electrical issue. I did check #43 also and it was good. Just wanted to post the one that caused my symptoms and issues.

No crank no start,

Had reached out to this community, All pointed to engine fuse box, and relays, turned out the starter had to be replaced

We recommend from the beginning, then suggest more if that doesn’t work.

If the symptoms include "clicking" but no cranking, I would immediately suggest starter. If clicking is not heard the most likely culprit is in the fuse box or electrical supply in some way. .

You can test the starter at the relay in the fuse box under the hood by jumping relay terminal 30 to 87

Or the old fashioned way at the solenoid.
