Oil Filler tube leaks on 06

I have an 06 HHR. The filler tube leaks where it screws into engine. Trying to find a fix. Every time I take the oil filler cap off the tube loosens up. I have tried tighten with water pump pliers but still loosens up. Is that surpose to be cement down ? Thanks for any help.

If memory serves, you can just remove the tube and screw the cap directly into the valve cover.

Go to a GM dealer parts department and get a new gasket or fabricate one of your own from a piece of rubber.

I think it is part # 12593348 Should be the same part on both ends.

I used an old oring from a headlamp, no more leaks, it kinda just doubles up over the seal on the valve cover end of the tube!

Like this red oring

This is why I save old inner tubes, but hadn't ever considered the O-ring from headlamp, Thanks Blue.

Yep, that works just fine. I did just that when I was running a GMPP CAI box.
