Oil Life Indicator

Does anyone know how the computer calculates the number it displays for the oil life%? Is it just going by the number of miles you drove since last resetting it, or is there some kind of sensor that can measure how dirty the oil is. I've never had one of these indicators to go by, so don't know if I should trust it or just do the 3k mile thing like I always do.

Gmols

Type "GMOLS" in your browser, the GMOLS site will describe in detail the theory of operation.

We all have our opinions (myself as well) on oil change frequencies, most of which are based upon simply what we have always been told, not necessarily based upon current facts and/or technical data.

Usage of the GMOLS system may indicate that you can extend your oil change frequencies, especially if your driving contains a lot of highway miles.

It's your call and what you feel comfortable with.
