I don't miss the oil pressure gauge at all. In 12 years of having one in my pickup, it was always, "Yeah, it's at 40! or Yeah it's at 20!". What difference does that make? I have no idea what it's supposed to be. I'd still get a oil pressure light if something bad happened. That's the only way I'd know something was wrong.

One time I read that some trucks (Ford for one) that had a oil pressure gauge actually was no more than a sensor that sent a signal to the gauge which would read 40 (or some number) when ever the engine was on and Zero when the engine was off. It was only a 'fool the owner device' to make him think he had a gauge and not an idiot light.
