Thumbs up Paint color?

I've been trying to get the paint color of my 2008 HHR. I think it's Victory Red. The code says only Waterbased and a ways from it says 198. The Vin# is 3GNDA13D38S562263. Thanks.

The paints used are waterborne, they actually have more rich clarity, & better for EPA yada, yada..

198 sounds like your paint code. Some others may have definative answer to that code # .

victory red in 2011 is 74U, crystal claret 89U Should be the same for other years. I believe it is the "xxU" codes.

WATERBASED is a statement for EPA.

Don. 74U may be the code for Victory Red. Problem is, that particular code is not on the glovebox sticker. (at least not on my Victory Red 2010)

They changed them up about every year. My book only has RPO codes for colors in 2011. Other years they make you find a code then go to another book to translate. GM likes mysteries.

In your particular case the U means upper color (left over from 2-tone times) 9260 is Victory Red. Might be the same for some other years. Some places on the interwebs claim the color is always the number following a U.

Pulled this from the RPO thread. These were only listed under the 2010 and 2011 model years.
Looks like "GCN" is the code for Victory Red. Mine does have that on the glovebox sticker.

I went through this in another thread recently. Some of those numbers are GM designations and some are Manufacturer numbers and some are "universal" somedon't really mean anything.

Google "code 9260", you will find many references to GM Victory Red. Yours does have that.
