Didn't really intend this thread to turn into a safety debate, it was more of a FYI for anyone considering doing the conversion. Safety should always be a consideration on any modification and honestly if it were my family car I would have bought a window version.
In my case my panel is a work vehicle that rarely carries anyone other than myself. By putting the rear seats in it has created more useable space and the option to carry a third if needed. I would not recommend this setup as an only car for the family of four. If I had to ride in the back for extended periods of time I would get carsick.
I will report back after a trail run with the mother-in-law and see how it goes!

with the exception of you jumping your panel into a lake, I'm sure safety is not too much of an issue, I'd be more worried about the reused seatbelts if you went that route. I would check with the dealer as to what they think about people back there.
Putting all safety crap aside I think you are a pioneer for trying something that I don't think any one else has done before. I would put a big plasma against the front seats facing back at your second row and charge people to ride in it like a motion chair ride. I'll go first! Good for you and best of luck to keeping this a mod thread not a safety thread.
BTW any pics yet?

Excellent test subject

I think the only problem I would have with that setup is that I am claustrophobic...I wouldn't last very long before I'd be freaking out

That looks much more "natural" with seats back there instead of a huge piece of plastic. And your not losing any space because the seats fold down, right?

What are you going to do with that piece where the seat is now? lol

Get the seatbelts and all the fasteners when stripping the wreck
The cost was $46.00 for a perfect Ebony cloth seat, $60.00 for the belts and misc hardware plus some shipping. It took two hours with two people, most of the time was spent sorting out how the seatbelts fit and in what order to install the parts.
I see more value in the rear seats than the minimal storage area in the factory storage tray.

I didn't think I would like this, but I do. I bet when you go to get your oil changed, your dealer is going to do a double take when they get in... Great Work.

I reassembled it and will store it for now so it could be put back in later if needed. There is a sheetmetal skeleton under there which the plastic side and front panels snap to. The top is a plastic tray that drops in place. Chevrolet could have made those storage trays at least twice as deep. There is significant wasted space under there.

The seat folds down just like a window version.
