PANEL: rear power outlet same as the power plug?
 

Hello,
I was reading the 2011 Owners manual from GMs web site and in the Panel section they mentioned a power outlet at the rear in which you have to remove a panel to plug into a socket for power tools?

Is this the same thing as the rear cigarette power plug on the aft pilar? Or is Chevys web site/Owners manual just missleading?
If they are diffent whats the build code?

From the oweners manual:
Rear Power Plug for Converters
The vehicle may have a power plug connector located
in the rear cargo area on the passenger side behind
the service panel. The power connector wiring can be
accessed by removing the service panel to begin
installation.
This plug can be used to supply power to commercial
converters and contains four different circuits. The
functions of these circuits are as follows; a 40 Amp
battery service, a 10 Amp Accessory or Run service, a
15 Amp Delayed Accessory service and a Ground
circuit.

I removed my cover (Panel HHR) and I have a big 4 blade conncetor hanging..with a big power wire going to it?

Then I would say.....no, it's not the same as the rear cigarette power plug

The 4 blade connector probably accepts the power unit inverter...

That's what it says. Kind of. They call it a converter.

Pretzel you just need to buy a power converter and wire it in. GM doesn't supply the converter just the wiring.

After some reseach of my own I can put somethings together.

1> RPO codes for all the PANELS lists:
:Power outlets, 2 auxiliary, 1 front and 1 rear

:Power outlet, 1 in the cargo area

:Rear power plug connector, 40 amp battery service circuit with 10 amp accessory or run service circuit, 15 amp delayed accessory service circuit and a ground circuit. Designed for installation of electronic equipment that requires up to 40 amp battery service

My plug has 4 wires...the pos and neg wires are 12 gauge
and the others are 18 gauge.
The manual tells me what they are.

Not a blender by any means, you can hook this to a power inverter that takes the current from the HHR and steps it up into AC power for tools and electronic equipment. Click the link below for an example of a commercial power inverter/converter that would work in an HHR.

So, what everyone is saying is : you need to buy your own inverter and go to the dealer to buy the power "pigtail" to plug into the existing wiring connector. one of the circuits is switched and one is constant and one is on the "anti-lockout delay" and the 4th is ground.
