Part out or core charge?

Hello everyone, I'm just about finished with the engine swap on my 2007 HHR. Thank God....

I can get my $100 core charge for the motor and spend about half of that in gas to get it or part it out. Some of the parts are probably junk but I'm thinking there is a lot of useful stuff that someone might be interested in.

Is there a strong demand for 2.2L engine parts? Anyone interested?

There may be some interest if you have the time to tear the engine down and list the "known good" parts in our Classifieds.

But it comes down to how much your time is worth vs. the cost of fuel and time to lug the dead engine back for a core charge.

If I'm remembering how your original engine failed correctly, the "good" parts may be massively outnumbered by the questionable ones.

The more we looked at the original engine the more we are starting to doubt what the previous owner said about if. If I can make more than $50 on the pares that I have id be happy.

You might troll Ebay to see what parts are selling and how much. I'm guessing valve cover, oil pan, t-stat housing are about all that's worth trying. Used electrical parts are questionable.
