pulling boat

a friend and myself just bought a 17' aluminum tracker boat with a 35 hp motor. i was hoping he was going to pull it to florida next month, but it looks like i'm going to have to pull it with my '11 with a 2.2 motor and a/t. i'm going to have to go from ashland, ky to baltimore (babysitting the grands) then hitting i-95 south to ft.myers. i'm looking for opinions as to should i have any problems pulling it? there's a couple of good hills between ashland and baltimore, but it should be a pretty flat pull from baltimore south.

Going to depend on how much your boat/trailer weighs.
A 2016 Tracker Pro 17 w/40 hp. That package weighs in at 1800 lbs. Way over the 1000 lb. limit that GM recommends for the HHR.

Just remember that 1000 lb. limit includes passengers and cargo in the car.

I used to tow a 1995 Tracker Pro 17 with a Mazda truck. That was about the limit as far as me being comfortable towing it.

X-2

Way too risky.

Does the trailer have surge brakes??

Either way I say NO.....

Besides ... should you be involved in an accident you will be in Big Trouble...

Exceeding any vehicles limitations, is never a good idea. The HHR, as great a transportation cars as it is, is really not a capable vehicle to tow very much with.
