Reg vs Synthetic Oil

I'm pretty sure that the cars that come from the factory that runs synthetic from the start have engines that are designed to use synthetic from the start. I know for a fact the the Z06 engines are tested before they install them in the cars.

Yep, a 20 minute run, as I understand But I believe that is because they are hand assembled and "clearanced/bluprinted".

Right snoopy, And just when I think I got it right, ring seating etc, along comes the SS 2.0 L with synthetic from new?

The synthetic oil is not just for the piston rings, but for the turbo as well. Turbos run very hot and the oil has to withstand the extreme temperatures, especially when you turn off your engine when the turbo is still hot. If you know turbos, you know that the oil gets cooked in the turbo when you shut off the engine after a hard run. It's called coking. You need to let a turbo car idle for a minute or two (depending how hard you've run the turbo). This will allow the oil to cycle through the turbo to cool it down. If you don't like sitting in your car while it idles, get a turbo timer. Cooling down the turbos will extend the life and performance.

As for how they make engines to run off of synthetic right off the bat, you'll have to ask an engine builder.

One thing to ponder how will a ring or ant engine part know the difference from syn or reg oil?????????????????
