Remote start does work with the key fob, but it only runs for about 5 min and shuts off. Is there a way to make it run longer, say about 15 min?? at below zero temps, it would be nice to have it warm up a bit inside the car.

 

In 2006 remote start was not standard equipment maybe not a factory option So it is not covered in the Owner Manual and might be after-market.

It was standard on the 2006 LT2, but perhaps not on other trims. And it is in the manual, page 2-8.

5 minutes is the limit that mine had. You can restart it remotely one additional time. The manual says it's 10. Newer GMs it's 10 minutes like in my wife's 2016 Encore and my 2016 Silverado LTZ.

I looked in all of the logical places in OM, couldn't find it. My eyes must be getting old. It was factory standard.
The difference is the location of the RCDLR, 2006/2007 it is under the qtr panel trim driver side, not under the headliner near the mirror.

 

And remote start is section 2, pages 8 and 9.

 

To the best of my recollection and consistent with the manual - My 2011 RS runs for 10 minutes the first time, 8 if you restart it, then it’s done, and won’t RS again until it’s been through a normal start cycle/shutdown cycle. Or something like that. My 2008 did the same.
