Remote Start & Air Conditioning

Let me start with I did a search and couldn’t find anything that touched on this topic I also thought I saw something in the manual for this but couldn’t find it when I flipped back through it.

One of the key bonuses for me getting the remote start was beating the heat with getting that AC going, but when I run the remote start it automatically starts the car pulling in outside air rather than re-circulating which sucks for actually chilling the car down.

Anyone know if that can be changed?

Nope, it always starts with drawing air from the outside. That is one of the main things that I don't like about the HHR. I wish there were a way to change that.

I know how to fix it. I thought I posted how to do it. Now when I start up my car it automatically recirculates the ac. Heres how i did it.

I built a robot arm that has 5 second delay on it. When my car is started the switch on the arm is flipped then 5 seconds later a finger pushes the button and then retracts. It took me a while to make the robotic arm and it takes up alot of room, but its worth it. :)

Hey Adam , I like that method cause the method I was using is costing me an arm and a leg,I pay some dude to sit in my car and when I hit the romote ,he just hits the button for me,maybe I should try the robot,it would cost me much less.

On hot days I just keep a big loaded ice chest nearby with dryer vent duct running from it to the HHR's "hot air" intake. When I hit the remote, it cools the whole HHR cabin within minutes. Then I pull a NASCAR move and yank the duct off, throwing it over the "pit wall" before I get in and burn rubber!

BONUS: I can grab an ice cold Dr. Pepper as I walk out to the car!

That's the problem with it not being manual. It always defaults to the outside air. Maybe you should start the car sooner if you need to cool it off, but if these guys' method are too expensive for you, then you might not be able to afford the gas to do it at today's price.

I was highly curious as if there was any wiring that could be swapped to fix the issue as well.
