The big oil companies are my customers at work and there is no way I'd let my car run at idle to warm up for that long. wow.

It is cold here in NJ but I get heat in my SS after just a mile or two even in this cold. The remote start kills mileage and at $3 plus a gallon I can live being cold a couple of minutes.

I agree totally. I'm sorry, but that is just totally retarded. I wouldn't want any of my non-diesel cars to idle that long, just in the added wear and tear on the engine. Idling that long is not good for a regular gasoline engine, nevermind mentioning how much quicker you're breaking down your oil

Also, nine degrees isn't even that cold. I was out shovelling off my roof in a tee shirt yesterday and it was in the teens.

You could look into a heated garage, was -26 in Superior the other day.

I rarely let mine run for more than 3-5 minutes. No sense putting additional wear and tear on the engine or burning more gas. I wear gloves on cold mornings until the cabin heats up. I haven't had too many issues with having to defrost the windshield, although I've had to do a lot of ice scraping on the outside windows.
