Restoration of window switch trim to brand new look
I want to restore to brand new look the window switch trim inside the HHR. My idea is to buy the same paint color and spray, but I don't know what is the paint color. Any suggestion/information? By the way this is not my window switch trim I use this photo as an example. Mine is much less damaged, only a small scratch.
It will probably look better with a “back to Black“ product or something similar especially since it seems to be in pretty good condition. Oh, wait, not that, I though you were talking about the rubber insert.
If you just shoot it with satin black paint no one‘s going to notice that it doesn’t match. Or maybe a matte silver. Or anything you like. With “Krylon” it’s very easy to get a nice finish but it isn’t that durable. You should probably prime with any “it sticks to plastic” paint you have lying around.
I like using real wheel paint. (Sheesh. Autocorrect is so annoying.) If you color choices but the stuff is very tough once it cures which takes a few weeks.

I'd like to see what your HHR looks like if that commands this kind of attention.
This is the last picture I took of my HHR but I have since removed the rust from the drum and painted it black. She is a great HHR. I also keep it original (minus the mags) so I don't want to repaint the window bezel trim with a different color. I just made a mistake by cleaning a small spot with a kleenex and applied too much pressure and it has removed some of the silver paint on that spot. I of course always use microfiber but I was on the road and tried to cleen it in a hurry. I don't want to leave it that way it's kinda ugly. I either repaint it its original form or I shop online until I find one that is in perfect condition.
I removed the switch bezel from my older HHR and I saw a sticker with the word Satin N on the back. Which I presume is for Satin Nickel color. So that would be the color I am looking for.
Meanwhile, I tried to repaint it with Rust-Oleum Pure gold for all surfaces. It did a good job but I decided it was not a perfect match for the interior of the vehicule. I also have at hand a satin silver spray paint which is close to the factory color but not exact match. I am trying it at the moment maybe I post picture later.
Satin Silver Metallic from Duplicolor. Did not sand anything just cleaned the bezel and sprayed a generous layer (actually multi layers all at once) just for testing purpose. I think it is very good but brighter than the other satin (nickel?) plastic inside the HHR.
