This morning I went to change out the hub, sadly I didn't get it done since I cant get the axle nut off.... But did find one of the caliper bolts was seized so I cleaned and lubed it all free again. The hub when I would rotate it by hand sounded dry and gritty so Im sure that's the issue with the ABS kicking in ( with help from the seized caliper bolt ) so trying to see when the son n law can get it in the shop to swap it out. I did replace the VVT's so the light went out shortly after starting and ran it around a bit ( I thought it fixed the ABS as well since the light went out too and thought it was due to the seized bolt.... Nope the ABS kicked in again at low speeds as usual, pissed me off.
Put the new gasket on the filler tube and ATV sealed it so it will be firm until I want it to move or come off as well as the wooly worm installed.
Brake pads looked new so leaving them alone for now and aiming to get that hub replaced.

Now that the VVT's are replaced the traction button actually works now ( when pressed the light comes on and goes off when pressed again, which it didn't do before )

One thing tried before is putting in the spare tire and letting the weight of the wheel on the ground prevent rotation.
You can get to the nut through the center opening.
It's worth a try

Or the punch or screw driver in the brake rotor to stop the spinning.

Note the Craftsman screw driver at the top of the brake caliper. I know this isn’t an HHR , but the principle is the same. And if you need more leverage , slide a pipe or floor jack handle over the end of the Johnson bar.

Like this guy did.

Yeah my socket wasn't deep enough and kept popping off so I didn't want to screw up the nut. My son in law tried to get to it today at the shop but was busy so he is going in early to knock it out before they open. so I should have it back by the afternoon. I did a rear hub on my wifes van in the past, so that's exactly what I did with an old bumper jack bar for leverage.

son in law called, got it swapped out in less than an hour, took it for a drive. All lights are off and no anti-stop kicking in... so it seemed to be the issue and squared away. I have yet to go pick it up so I will know later.

Just picked it up, no noises, no lights, no dinging, steering seems tighter as well. The old bearing is really stiff now that it is off.
one thing we noticed is there is no dust shields for the brake rotors which I really didn't notice originally other than that, handles good so far. Getting ready to make a run to the stores and Ill update when I return.

Ok one issue.... He left the spacer off, I cant find anything on the correct positioning of that spacer ( it has a little wing ) because I may just go buy the socket and do it myself....
any pictures for the passenger side would be great as the book shows nothing.

Part #5 , you will need to remove the axle nut and the three hub bolts , then re torque the three bolts to 85 ft/lbs and the axle nut to 155 ft\lbs the brake caliper bracket bolts are 85 ft/bs the caliper bolts are 25 ft/lbs
