SharkRacing.com DIY Mirror Turn Signals

Can anybody help me? I just got these, which I will be installing soon. My problem was I thankfully took my passenger side off only to see how this goes together. I got the Mirror Separated from the plastic body whch is held in wich a double sided sheet of some type. Where can I get a new one, so i can reattach the mirror to the plastic casing?? Anybody?

Once I do thi mod, I will post all the pics here on this forum. I know I saw another thread like this one, but I can't seem to find it. Yes I did search for it.

URL: Site is down -- coming soon!!

Once I had just the mirror out, I test fitted the LED Light, and it is bright and shines right through the mirror. This is a great MOD!!!

Are you talking about the 3M double-sided tape? If so, most auto stores (Pep Boys, Kragen, etc.) have it.

I did a heated mirror coversion on my previous Suburban and had to reattach the mirror to the plastic backer before.

Most auto parts stores sell the foam-core 3M double sided tape. The original double-sided tape on the mirror is very thin without a foam core. The foam-core will work, but will space the mirror glass out past the edges of the plastic backing plate. This may or may not bother you. The best tapes to use are the 3M VHB (Very High Bond) tapes, especially if you are adding a mirror heater (which will heat the tape. The VHB tapes can withstand very high temperatures.

If you call 3M, they will usually send a sample-size roll of the tape for free. It should be more than enough to do the mirrors.

You might also find a local vendor of 3M tapes (usually an industrial supply house).

This guy knows what he is talking about - I investigated this topic years ago. The VHB tapes are the best and you may not get the same quality in a local store. Plus you can ask 3M for any thickness when sampling. They sent me the three different types I requested and more.

ok cool, Thanks. I just purchased some on ebay for really cheap!!! It should work fine. I'm not sure If i'm actually adding the heated mirror option or not. We will see.

OK, I finally got the mirrors mounted to their backing with the chevron's in place. The only problem I am having is running the wire from the mirror through the Spring loaded mechanism, and out to the car. Once I get that far, I will be done with this mod. Can anybody help me?
