Shifting characteristics?

I know the HHR is not a sports car but I'm wondering what it's like to drive one with a stick. I hope to get out tomorrow to find out for myself if I can find a dealer with one.

I really like mine. When I was test driving HHR's, before I bought one, I had to drive 100 miles to find any dealer with a 5 speed. The salesman told me that the one I drove was the only 5 speed he had seen. Needless to say, I had to order my 2LT in order to get the 5 speed. The wait was worth it though.

Mine has a 5 speed in it and personally I liked it better than the automatic. I'm one of those that likes to control when the car shifts and I went to 4 lots before I found a stick shift. Drove an automatic at 3rd lot and told them I wanted to drive a manual before I made up my mind. They had 12 HHR's...but they were all automatics. When we walked into the last lot I saw the Orange HHR sitting there and told my boyfriend...go over there and look in the window and tell me that's a 5 speed. He did...and gave me the thumbs up. I then told him...if I like the way that drives...it's going home with me. I liked it...and it did and I couldn't be happier.

I did a search online of the local dealers' inventory and called the first dealer I found with a stick shift. Hell just cause you test drive with em dosen't mean you have to buy from em.

I prefer a MTX but with my commute to work in traffic I had no option but to get an ATX...There's no traffic in Canada so you should be fine

Love my 5 speed. It shifts very good. I am thinking of getting a short shift kit.

I've only had my HHR for 3+ days, loving more and more. Love total strangers stopping and talking to me about it! I went with the manual. Drove both and hands-down the manual was the way to go. I too had a hard time finding an HHR with a stick. Dealer went over 100 miles to find me what I wanted. Well worth the wait!
