Should I buy it? 2008 SS 68k miles
 

offered at $6995 and has been at the dealership for a long time (200 days) I was considering the 80 mile drive there then looked at the car fax report available.
It had 3 alerts for lemon law or manufacturer buy back listed. two owner vehicle.
Versus my current 2008 LT 124k 2.2 5 spd. (dealer cylinder head replacement at 55k)
If my goal is trouble free (as possible) least expensive costs per mile. My thoughts say drive what you got.
Is the "fun" factor of the SS setup that much greater than the 2.2 econo-box?

I used to work with a guy who bought a Dodge RAM (Before it was just "RAM") that was a lemon law buyback. He never had a problem with that truck. Also if you have the VIN you should be able to get a history from a dealer and compare when things were done to it vs. when each owner had it.

I think I would have made the offer for less so you would have a buffer to make hidden/undisclosed problems partially or completely covered.
You could still do this after you go look at the HHR and check it out.
With the Low Mileage you might also see what a Quality Extended Service contract would cost and ask them to cover a percentage of the cost.
If you do that make sure it is covering an "SS HHR" and make yourself a list of know problems on this site to see if the policy covers them.
You have 2 major things in your favor.
The long period of time it has been for sale, and the negative issues on the Car Fax.

Since the lemon law requires Warranty work there should be record with GM to tell you what the problem was. A GM service adviser should be able to get the warranty details by using the VIN since it had to have been done in a GM shop.

In 2003, I bought a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban K2500 from a car dealer over 100 miles away. These were hard to find used. It was a GM buyback vehicle that the dealer bought at an auction. It originally stickered for over $50K, but I got it for $32K because it had the "buyback stigma". It was bought back because the AC kept going down due to refrigerant loss. The Suburban was a year old and had 4700 miles on it. The AC was working when I bought it, but stopped working a month later. the local Chevy dealer found the problem, a pinhole in the rear AC line. Apparently the original dealer couldn't figure it out and just kept adding refrigerant.

I still have that 2002 Suburban, it has 206K miles and has been one of the best, most reliable vehicles I have ever owned.

Before buying it, as other said, find out why it was repurchased. AC system problems are one thing, powertrain problems that keep showing up are another.

My opinion.
I wouldn't gamble and buy a car that has been documented as a lemon. Yes, there is a reason that 2 previous owners wanted to get rid of a low mileage car. I would look for another one..............unless you really want to deal with that cars "issues" because I doubt they've been fixed.

( for the oldtimers here. Makes me remember Sunflowers SS and all the issues she had)
