In purchasing an HHR which suspension is better for carrying loads the sport or touring, and what is the difference in ride, etc.

Drove a 2.4 L HHR 2LT with the sport suspension and I drove a 2.2 L HHR 1LT with the touring suspension, and drove another 2.4 L HHR 2LT with the sport suspension and for us the touring suspension gives us the ride we prefer with the all seasons factory standard 16” wheels and tires.

What surprised me was that I thought we wanted the 2.4 L with more horsepower, however we found the 2.2 L with less horsepower was more responsive and peppier. Maybe a better description is as I depressed the gas pedal of the 2.4 I felt a hesitation before acceleration, kind of like it was bogging down a little. I did not feel that same hesitation in the 2.2. Pat said she felt the same thing about the 2.4 as a driver and a passenger.

my 07 2lt with the 2.4 does seem to have more hesitation then my wife's 2007 cobalt with the 2.2.

But, But, But he's not looking for the ride, He is asking about with a load. And I have a 1LT that I have hauled lots of stuff inside and have had no problems with bottoming or cornering still relatively a smooth ride. You can tell you have a load, but using "I" gear on hills helps. I have noticed a mile or 2 difference in the MPG's but not bad.

Now can someone with a 2LT chime in that has hauled a full load with their opinion.

I've hauled 350+ worth of gardening supplies in mine (06 2LT). The ride felt real smooth, but then I was going no faster than 40 MPH. Also I've got lowering springs so I don't know if my opinion really qualifies here.

Add the anti-sway bar and the touring suspension is very good. I loaded mine to the roof taking my son to college. We then put his bicycle on the back and there was no difference in the ride during 300-mile trip. It's not like the old Chrysler minivans with the rear end dragging if you put anything in it.

Personally, I don't want a 2LT if it means spending 20 cents more per gallon.

It doesn't sound like much difference between the two suspensions. I have been pursuing the 2.4, It doesn't sound like much of a difference in performance.

Best way is to see for yourself I have hauled 24 full cases of bananas in my 2LT with the sport suspension. Wasn't agile and wouldn't do it again but overall it got the job done
