Need to replace my front facia on my 2008 HHR SS and figured it'd be a good time to replace the headlamps as well since my lenses are kind of foggy and I've not hear good things about "cleaning" them.

Looking at the Pilot 20-6766-00 headlamps at about $240 a pair. Anyone ever use these and/or thoughts on them?

I don't drive that much at night so I'm not looking for anything special or particularly custom - just a good, solid replacement for 8 year old original lamps.

Depends on the actual problem and the correct selection of product. If you get a product designed to fix yellowing to fix pitting, you will lose.

 

Its important to clean and seal the headlights correctly.The best method is to wet sand them then apply a U.V. stable automotive clearcoat. The clear coat is the key to long lasting clear headlights.When buffed or sanded you are in effect removing the uv protection which causes them to haze up even faster.

 

I too had great success cleaning my foggy headlamps. I used the Sylvannia headlight restoration kit that includes 2000 grit sandpaper and clear coat. They looked brand new when I was done. I had the car for over 2 years after I did it and they still looked brand new.

 

Why not just go ahead and get Depo blacks? Would look really good with the other black trim on the front.

To be honest, I've seen new, stock replacement lights at a lot lower price than that.

 

I can't imagine going thru the trouble and expense of changing your complete headlamp assembly when it is so easy to sand/polish them.

 

was thinking of doing this to my silver panel, I found the Spyder lamps like that FOR UNDER $200

 

After a bit of searching I found both left and right on Amazon for $64 each. Since I'm having to replace the front valance anyway I thought I'd replace the headlamps while everything is off. Maybe get a pair of halogen bulbs to replace those in the new units?
