Tire Pressure

Hello everyone i have a LT1 with the factory 16inch polished wheels with factory Firestone Tires. I just wanted to know if this is correct. THe sticker on the door jamb says that the tire pressure should be at 30psi. When i checked today i noticed they were at 40psi. Should i bring down the tire pressure by 10psi. I live in Florida, not sure if weather would have anything with recomended psi.

Did you check them after sitting overnight or after driving?

Ya, 30psi is the cold pressure you set it to after the car has been sitting. However since the weather is warming up now, if you inflated to 30 in winter it may have gone up a few psi, and you should recheck and let some out if needed.
I filled my tires on the last really cold day and two weeks later I had to let out about 4psi.

Temps will make the pressure jump some, but 10psi is pushing it IMO. Make sure you are using a good guage (dial type, not pencil) and check them after it's been sitting a while. Then adjust as needed.

I had a oil change and tire rotation done at a dealer. Later on I checked the pressure, and every tire was down 10 pounds.

What is the recommended pressure for the 17" Firehawks?

35#. Just look at the sticker in your door. We just got ours and I was very disapointed to find that it was hard to handle and all over the road on the freeway at 70mph. I checked the air pressure on Sat. and the tires had 40# in them! I "assumed" the dealer had checked the pressure. Shame on me. :nono:

Now she handles and drives just fine with the prescribed 35#. :thumb:

I have a 1LT with the 16" alloys. I just got a set of the 17" Polished. My door sticker says 30 for the Affinitys so that is why I was asking about the Firehawks

Thanks!

That explains it then! I thought it was a bit of an odd question to ask. Enjoy the 17s. I'm glad ours has them. It looks SOOOO much better with them on.
