Basically the limiting factor is the tire height, the top of the tire is very close to the bottom spring support of the front struts. Anything larger than stock will hit it.
Changing the offset can screw the geometry up; that means dangerous handling and bad tire wear.
If you are not going to drive the car you can put anything you can force under the wheel arch on.
