Towing a bike long distance...?

First post...Yes, I did use the the search function & found plenty of opinions on towing different things(boats, campers etc..)...If my specific question has been answered I apologize in advance...

I'm contemplating hauling my bike (KTM Adventure 990) from MN to AR & Back, about 2200 miles round trip...total weight about 800-900 +/- lbs...bike = 500 lbs + Aluminum trailer = 300 lbs..so I'm under the 1000 lbs rule and there will not be more than 100 lbs on the hitch..I'm not concerned about the handling as I've hauled a couple dirt bikes & a snowmobile (at different times) behind it & it was fine except for being a little under powered (hopefully there will be less wind resistance with the one bike...
I'm concerned about the extended miles that I'll be traveling at 70+ mph...

I have a 2.2L not a 2.4L...Will the 2.2 handle it?
Does the transmission handle it ok? does it generally "hold" overdrive? (I won't be going up & down too many hills except a few miles through the west side of the Ozarks)
Thanks Tony

I wouldn't be concerned, especially with a load <1k lbs, so as long as you keep the min 10 to 12 percent on the tongue.

I can't speak from theory, but only experience from towing with small vehicles. Years ago towed a 1400 lb boat with a VW Bug, but only short distances to the boat ramp.

I also towed 2 ATVs on one trailer (Honda 4Trax and a 110 ATC) with my Suzuki Samurai 1.3L, which I still own. Yes, underpowered, but did the job in a 700 mile run.

No mechanical problems with either. Wasn't in a hurry. Both performed as expected.

As in any towing situation, common sense applies, but especially with limited power.
