Towing and mileage
Looking at buying a HHR that has been towed behind motorhome.
They say actual km is 50k but odometer reads 130k. Are they saying that towing add km? I thought towing didn't add mileage? |
Are the wheels turning while being towed?
I guess if you towed it front wheel on a dolly it wouldn't register, few do that. |
Does it have the Tow Hitch parts still attached to the front of the HHR?
Check Just to make sure it is even a possible Honest statement. If not ... look for any signs of a hitch ever being attached. It still has the higher mileage on parts of the front drive train hubs and tires etc and rear shocks and axle parts. Also the additional possible paint or body damage while towing those extra miles. Are you talking with the Owners or a Dealer? The dealer could tell you anything.... Be careful. Silverfox |
So, if towed all wheels on the ground, it will accumulate mileage on odometer, yes no?
|
yes
|
I’m wondering, towed would the ignition be in the run position, so the ECM is energized for the NCM and brake lights to work, I would say yes flat towing adds the mileage.
I noticed going through the tunnels , my speedometer freezes , then adjusts when back out in the open. So our speedometers must be GPS |
NO, it doesn't freeze in a tunnel, the back light changes and flickers.
The only way to unlock the steering wheel is to turn the key. Otherwise the car would crab behind the tow. The spedo and odo are computed from data from the transmission vehicle speed sensor. If the driveshaft/axle is turning mileage is computed. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...45e6a66953.png |
I’ll check next April , lol
