I don't really know about the SS shifter. I know it has it's own short shifter and I'm pretty sure the shifts are longer than the TWM short shifter, but shorter than the LS and LT HHR's.

TWM sells a short shifter for the Cobalt SS which may fit the HHR SS. You would have to ask them.

I just ordered the Cobalt/TC shifter, so I will post here within a couple of weeks to let you know how/if it worked.

That is a great looking shifter. You must have an SS? Good luck with it.

Let us know how it works out, we have tried to locate a test car locally but it's impossible to find one in our area, the dealerships told us they sell the HHR almost only with the automatic transmission.

From the pictures we have seen, the stock shifter looks the same as the Cobalt SS/TC.

As you now know, it worked perfectly! Awesome shifter, nice tight throw, very solid when combined with the solid bushing shifter mounts to replace the factory rubber mounts. All parts very nicely machined, superb quality.

The installation was smooth and instructions easy to follow (console on HHR SS is a bit easier to remove than the Cobalt pictured in the instructions).

The only hassle in the otherwise smooth installation is the removal of the stock shift knob in order to remove and re-use the shifter boot. After no luck in trying to pry it off as suggested, I resorted to using a gear puller, but still made a mess of the old knob. If I had it to do over, I would either cut the boot slightly to clear the knob, and then sew it up on the inside, or buy a spare boot if available. That way the (undamaged) original shifter could be saved.

Love it, plus it looks nice!!

Well done and It looks great!!!!

Good to see you had an easy time with the install, except for the boot. (The non SS boot is a lot easier to remove) I noticed the knob is different than the one for the HHR. Is that for the reverse lockout?

Yes, that is the reverse lockout below the knob. Just as they advertise, it operates very smoothly.

Thanks for the update, I'm glad the solution we proposed worked out for the short shifter, now we know it fits perfectly the HHR SS!

We use delrin bushings inside the reverse lockout piece and rubber o-rings on the reverse lockout pin. This is why it operates smoothly, there is no metal on metal contact and no unwanted play between the shifter shaft and reverse lockout piece.
