Unfortunately...

The pictures I posted recently of our 4 HHRs in my driveway will be the last ones to show the Maroon HHR I bought a few months ago from Pennsylvania.

On Sunday, my daughter had a serious accident where the HHR struck another car, spun around, rolled over onto the roof, slid down road, went into a ditch and flipped back upright (description of sequence of events based on observation of damage and a witness). All airbags went off, windows shattered, roof caved up slightly into a V-shape from pressure on the side edges as it rolled.

There was an off-duty EMT right behind my daughter who ran up to her car in the ditch. She pulled the door open to see how she was doing. As she said to me in a text, "I am an EMT/firefighter for many years and I was shocked to see her step out of the car with no major injuries". The only apparent injury is a bruise on the neck/shoulder area from the seat belt (pretensioners probably fired and pulled the belt tight).

Thank you, Chevrolet for the safety design of the HHR passenger compartment. After the accident all 4 door still worked and opened with the handle. Definitely deserves its 5-star safety ratings.

Now I need to find a replacement HHR ASAP for her to drive.

Steve

So happy your daughter walked away from it, and sad that HHR is damaged, but thankfully it did it’s job!

I echo what the others here have said, Steve. Really glad she's alright.

You know as much as people complain about regulations I'm glad to hear that in this case they are in place. Well at least for the HHR design. With that said I too am glad that your daughter survived.
