I hope I'm not boring you guys

I take photos of almost every move that is made on the car. Most of the pictures look like the other pictures. There is very little difference between them. Are you guys sure you want more?

Assuming that you do, here's where we are today.

The ECM and the engine fuse panel are about where they go, body harness is secured and the main battery cable is complete. We are beginning the final work on the rear wheel wells. Sheet metal work starts again next week.

Change of Plans

It was decided to make some major changes to the rear body /suspension of the car. With the width of my rear tires, by the time enough metal was cut out for clearance, almost nothing was left. Also, the torque arm was going to hit the under body if I ran over anything larger than a cigarette butt.

With this in mind the trusty plasma cutter went back to work. We are going to completely replace the floor from the back of the front seats rearward. As with everything, this is a bunch more work but I think this will be much better in the long run.

Here is what it looks like now.

Oh it won't be just any old V8 in a HHR, this bad boy will hold it's own against any muscle car you are going to see at your local cruise night. Should be in the 520 hp range in a pretty light car.

You are my hero. I put a LT1 in a S10 back when the LT1 was the hottest thing going so I have an idea what you are doing. I love the response to “Someone asked me why I put a V8 in an HHR.....I answered Because I Can”

Big Week

Quite a bit of progress was made this week. Rear tubs are being fabbed and the rear floor area is shaping up. The ECM is finally mounted in a custom made box and the engine fuse box is getting mounted. The radiator is back in once again.
