Vapor Canister Connections
Vapor Canister Connections
In case I need to remove the charcoal canister, how do I remove the two lines from the canister itself? I know how to remove the the vent line from the vent valve solenoid but not the other two.
Thanks
Thanks
I did see this video and it was very helpful. I'm chasing down a P0455 issue. My first part to replace was the gas cap since it was not a yellow cap for E85. I can see where a smoke machine and a high end OBD2 reader would be handy to have to correctly trouble shoot the EVAP system.
Does the other two lines going to the canister release the same way the vent line does?

Why do you want to mess with the canister? The odds that is a problem approach nil.
The color of the cap is only for identification, but it must seal well. Check the gasket and the mating surface of the filler tube; sometimes "gunk" accumulates.
Check the tube from the canister to the top of the filler pipe.
Any odor of gas around the driver side rear door?
ANY other symptoms, even ones you think are unrelated? Like hard to start etc.
Did you recently replace or remove the EVAP vent valve on the canister? The gasket there is a bit of a problem.

Check the EVAP purge valve under the hood, it should be closed , if you can blow air through it, it’s faulty.
the valve by the canister can also be faulty, the electrical might be corroded and non functional. If either are off shore junk, you’ll need to replace both.
As Donbrew mentioned, the rubber gasket , it doesn’t come with a new valve, possibly the valve was changed and the gasket or seal was tossed with the old valve. I’ve used orings to seal it up, and some silicone grease

The vent solenoid has RTV around it where it connects to the canister which tells me a previous owner could have had a P0455 issue and may have tossed out the inlet gasket like you said. The solenoid does have the adapter cable so it may have been replaced. I ordered a canister with vent solenoid from eBay in case there is a problem with the canister not seating the solenoid properly.
It's been a few weeks since I installed the correct rubber gasket on the vent solenoid and the CEL is still on. Should the code be erased or should it does it go out if the ECM conditions are met? The code is still P0455.
