Does anyone know how long it takes for GM to issue a VIN # after the
car was built ? Mine was built 3/12.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong (I am from time to time), when the vehicle is completed, it rolls out the door with a registered VIN#, as part of that federal motor vehicle law stuff.

 

SindyDix would be a good person to ask. I think she was at the dealer every other day checking on the status of her HHR when she ordered it. I think they also let her know when it had it's vin #

 

If your HHR has been built, it has a VIN#. You can request it from your dealer. After my dealer told me my VIN#, I was doing internet searches and I found it in Chevy inventory.... I emailed my dealer just to be sure mine wouldent get sold to someone else!

My dealer knows the car was built 3/12/07 but GM has not told him the
VIN# . That is what I want to know. How long it takes GM to notify the
dealer.

You can try doing a search on the Chevy web site. Enter the exact eqipment along with color, your VIN may show up if they have entered it into inventory.
It should just be a couple of days for the factory to noticy your dealer. (It was in my case)
